- What makes the Gulf Coast stand out to you? { I love the dichotomy of the Gulf South – from the white sandy beaches to the mysterious swamps, and the rich history of our Southern architecture all intertwining with the vibrant food, music and culture of our cities – we truly have it all.
- What got you into this business? { I started my career at TEG as an assistant account executive and worked my way to a senior account executive. Following that, I spent almost a decade and a half in the healthcare industry before the PR and Communications industry called me back. I’ve always been a naturally curious person – wanting to understand how something works or why decisions are made are chief among those curiosities, which fits in perfectly with what we do here at TEG.
- Who has been a big influence in your career? { My mom. She was the ultimate working mom before we had fancy names and categories for these things. She was a high-level sales executive for a national company so would spend a good amount of time traveling during the weekdays. As her child, you would never know it – she never missed an important game or event and would book her travel so she was home when we got home from school, cooking our favorite dinner. I still do not know how she did it all, it’s like she found extra hours in the day!
- If you weren’t in PR, what would you be doing? { A writer for the food, fashion or travel industry.
- What is a great client story that you’d care to share? { When I worked for TEG as an account executive, I helped coordinate the media coverage for the re-opening of the Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts. The opening performance headlined Itzhak Perlman with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and I was able to set up an interview with CNN at their rehearsal. I vividly remember standing onstage at the newly renovated Mahalia Jackson after meeting and chatting with Itzhak Perlman. I helped CNN get the interview and b-roll they needed for their package while the LPO and Perlman played. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment both personally and professionally.
